Northern Lights (aurora borealis) seen in Canada, Norway and Scotland January 24, 2012 (Photos)
Recently, Albee (my girlfriend) and I talked about traveling and hoping to visit the seven wonders of the world. One of the things we have discussed and talked about is the Aurora. We both wanted to see this one of these days. I am not sure if it is a coincidence or something, but how I wish we have seen the Northern Lights (aurora borealis) that appeared in the sky of Canada, Norway and Scotland last Tuesday January 24, 2012.
Below are some of the photos from random sources online showing the northern lights in Canada, Norway and Scotland as seen last Tuesday.

About:
Aurora is a natural light display in the sky particularly in the high latitude (Arctic and Antarctic) regions, caused by the collision of energetic charged particles with atoms in the high altitude atmosphere (thermosphere). The charged particles originate in the magnetosphere and solar wind and, on Earth, are directed by the Earth’s magnetic field into the atmosphere. Aurora is classified as diffuse or discrete aurora, (wikipedia).
