May 2010 – 2 major blogging event will happen in Cebu – World Bloggers’ Day and Cebu Blog Camp. These midyear events mark the beginning of another era in the blogging world.

World Bloggers’ Day

The Cebu Bloggers Society, Inc. is proud to announce to the growing blogosphere that the first ever World Bloggers’ Day 2010 will take place on May 2, 2010 in the Queen City of the South — Cebu, Philippines. The event will be spearheaded by the Cebu Bloggers Society and Parkmall – Cebu. Check the World Bloggers’ Day Press Release for more details.

Cebu Blog Camp

Cebu Blog Camp is an event that focuses on honing the skills of bloggers offline. This event will gather a large number of bloggers all over Cebu to discuss the latest developments on the Web, Search engines, and making money online. This event will be held this coming May 22, 2010 at CAP Auditorium, CAP Complex.

CBS @ 2: The Cebu Bloggers Society 2nd Anniversary Celebration

In two years, blogging in Cebu has ripened from just being a mere online diary to something that takes an active role in civic and social awareness.

One of the factors that contributed to this positive development in the blogging scene in Cebu is the creation of a local blogging community.

The Cebu Bloggers Society was founded on February 14, 2008, with the main goal of uniting Cebu-based bloggers into a well-bonded community. And indeed, after its creation, individuals with diverse backgrounds but with a common interest, which is to promote Cebu and advocate blogging as a key tool for progress, converged together to establish Cebu’s first and largest blogging community.

The Cebu Bloggers Society has really grown and evolved quite significantly. From its humble beginnings, the group presently has at least 80 members and the number is still bound to increase further.

And now, the group is already anticipating its 2nd founding anniversary! Dubbed as “CBS @ 2: The Cebu Bloggers Society 2nd Anniversary Celebration”, the event is envisioned to further strengthen the bond of friendship and camaraderie within the blogging community.

The anniversary celebration will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2010, 5-9PM, at the Celebration Hall of SM Storyland, Lower Ground Floor, SM City Cebu.

I don’t really know how to start this post (so typical, isn’t it?). Well, there’s a kind of felling that I just can’t explain. I think I’m still overwhelmed with last night’s Philippine Blog Awards.

Honestly, I didn’t expect that I would bring home with a bacon. What’s funny about it is that, I was busy talking with my fellow Cebu Bloggers, and when I heard my URL being announced infront of the crowd – I was really shocked, I was doubtful at first if I really heard my URL as beyond-the-norms.org, and yet I did. And with full excitement and overwhelming feelings, I walk slowly (feeling like a rockstar) to the stage and claimed my award.

Thank you so much “GLOBE and The Philippine Blog Awards (PBA) “for giving this award. It’s indeed an honor.

Aboitizland – First Bite: a Bloggers Urban Lifestyle Event

Last August 14, 2009 Friday, the Cebu Bloggers core members went at Aboitizland specifically at Pristina North located at Talamban, Cebu City. The event was dubbed as “First Bite: a Bloggers Urban Lifestyle Event”.

The Cebu Bloggers Society core members met at The Terraces, Ayala Center, Cebu around 5pm to 6pm. We were fetched by 2 Aboitizland vehicles going to the venue. We reached there around 6.30PM. Then we were all being introduced with the ongoing and planned projects of Aboitizland. Afterwhich, some did camwhorings (as usual), while others were busy having some chitchats – just like what I did. Around 7PM, we all were adviced to have dinner. (Yum..Yum..) Few moments later, the SkyCraperCity people arrived. After dinner, beers were served, then the short program began! Freedom Wall, Games and Pictorials followed!

It was indeed an honor to be invited by an organization as Aboitiz Land. So in behalf of everyone, I extend my heartful gratitude for inviting us! – Thank you!

2nd Cebu:Digital Filipino Club & Bloggers Networking Event a Success!

The 2nd Cebu: Digital Filipino Club & Bloggers Networking Event at Teatro Casino PAGCOR last Saturday-July 11, 2009 was indeed a success! Compared to last year’s (1st year of the event here in Cebu) the number of participants, especially the Cebu Bloggers increased. I still remember during its first year on how Winston of BatangYagit.com exert effort to organize the Cebu Bloggers as one. And yet, until now, we all are always thankful for his legacy!

Moving on, just like last year, before the program started, everyone was adviced to eat their dinner which was sponsored by PAGCOR. Around 8PM (if am not wrong), the program started with a welcome ceremony by one of the PAGCOR personnel (mybad I forgot her designation), then followed by Miss Janette’s presentation and then a short break. This time, the Cebu Bloggers did some camwhorings while others were just sitting and did some chit chats. Afterwhich, there were some raffles and I was lucky coz this time I got the PAGCOR green back with some freebies inside! ^_^.

Lastly, I would like to thank Miss Janette for inviting us again in the event. To the Cebu Bloggers Society family, for being so cooperative. To the sponsor Casino Filipino PAGCOR Cebu and to everyone who came at the event, thanks a lot! Hope to see you again next year!

I know this is a very late post. The hell I care! (haha) Well, it’s simply because I don’t feel writing after summer . Newies, I think am in the mood to write something today. And it goes like this…

It was a clear summer day (oh it’s a song I think? hahaha… whatever) This post is all about my last summer experience. So basically it’s summer wrap up! But wait, when does summer begins here in the Philippines? Not so sure with this eh? Okay, lemme just start from March.

March 2009

Team Building – the Team Reloaded with Neil Parilla’s leadership (our former team supervisor) went at Alegria, Cebu for our 1st quarter team building. We stayed at Batong Malunhaw Beach Resort. The team building activities really was a good idea for everyone in the team to have some relaxation and fun! And yes, It was really fun! Loads of fun – promise! .. Another thing, it coincides my birthday since we stayed there overnight March 07 to 08 (which is my day). See post here [Weekend at Alegria, Cebu]

Sinebuano - ’twas mid March of this year when I joined Sinebuano for no particular purpose, till I slowly learned about things in Film making. One thing that interests me most is Cinematography. It was also a good timing of joining the group, for I didn’t expect to be exposed in the camera late March for the short film “Dong“. More at [SineBuano Weekend Activities 3/28 & 3/29]

Wisdom teeth - yeah! I just turned 22 and for the past 21 years I never had wisdom tooth. Take note I just thought of a tooth. But just last week of April my wisdom teeth started to grow and it really hurts. I haven’t eaten for 2 days. Yet I survived the pain (congrats to me ) Continue at [Killing me softly]

May 2009

iBlog 5 – May 09. I promised my self that with in the year I should go somewhere else (atleast 2 places) that is outside Cebu. One place down (hehehe). I filed a 2 days vacation leave for this event which was followed with 2 rest days. I flew to Manila to attend this one day event-iBlog 5 which was held at UP Diliman, QC. There I met a lot of online buddies who basically are bloggers, photographers, plurkers and of course my SO family. It was indeed a nice event! S adly, I wasn’t able to go with them for the after party event ( am such a loser ). Continue at: [Chronicles of iBlog 5]. Moreover, I was able to meet my big brother again and in fact I stayed at their house during those days. Oh yeah, the last time I saw my brother was 2004 and am still a high school boy during that time. Now, there are a lot of changes, he already have his a blessed family, but still rocks! Also I was able to meet my cute korean fanatic couzin Jacel and her family , I stayed their house too overnight ^_^. We’re supposed to go at Ecopark, but we ran out of time, I mean I ran out of time . But still I enjoyed my stay there! Hope to come back soon!

1and1 Summer Outing – May 17, everyone (except for those people who volunteer for the skeletal team) went at the Alegrado Island, Maribago Blue Water Beach Rosort at Mactan, Cebu for the companyâ€™s summer outing 2009! And yeah, I won a GC overnight for 2 at the Ambassadors Room, Waterfront. (for the first time in my life, I won a raffle. And I am selling it, care to buy?) [Summer outing at Alegrado Island]

ASUS Ultimate Overclocking Show and Dinner at Bigbys â€” May 23 the ASUS Ultimate Overclocking Show happened and witnessed by the Cebu Bloggers. After the event, we (cebubloggers) were invited for a dinner at Bigbys and yeah we got GC worth 500.00.

Yehey.com – May 28, the Cebu Bloggers Society was invited by Yehey.com for a short convention at La Maison, Ayala Terracess, Cebu City. It was a sort of acquaintances, camwhorings, thoughts sharing, dinner and the likes! I met, Ms. Kan-kan and Elaine during the meet up. Also, Mr. Lim gave us overview about Yehey.com. So far, these are the things I could remember during my last summer. If in case I forgot something, I’ll just add it then. I think I never had such kind of summer as I had experience this year, I hope I could have more fun through out the year! \m/

June 21, 2009 – Cebu’s first ever Hobby Convention (HobCon) was held at Parkmall, Mandaue City. The event’s highlights were LevelUp! Live 2009-Cebu Regional and Cosplay Event! Kodus to the Cebu Bloggers Society for being one of the Media Partner. Got my very first Media ID since I became a blogger. (hahaha)!

Oh what else? hmmp.. yeah, I met a lot of cosplayers and they were pretty cool. They look awesome, especially the girls! And one more thing, at last I already met my long time online friends Noi and Toni. It was indeed a pleasure meeting them both yesterday! Thank you guys for coming at the event

Mar Roxas meets the Cebu Bloggers

Senator Mar Roxas met the Cebu Bloggers people yesterday June 11, 2009 at the Coffee Bean Tea Leaf, I.T Park, Lahug, Cebu City. We (the Cebu bloggers) met at the venue around 3:00PM and had some sort of chit chats, camwhorings, acquaintances while waiting for Mar Roxas to arrive. Also Bon, who is part of Mar’s team did some short briefing to us. Some of the Cebu Bloggers had the chance to asked Mar Roxas about random things, mostly on the political side. And since we ran out of time (Mar had some appointments, I guess?), the rest of the bloggers just leave their questions in mind. They might be sending their queries via email, I bet? Not so sure though. As of me, I really have less interest when it comes to politics. I’m such a novice to these things. Honestly, I really don’t know my stand when it comes to Philippines Politics. (annoyed)

Moreover, Mar discussed/answered things based on the fellow bloggers questions. Generally, he focussed on the country’s economic problem which he believed is due to graft and corruption. He really is positive that it’s the root of all the problems our country is facing today. I heard him saying as well that we need to have the right person in the right position, (oh i said to myself, it’s an old same song). On the other hand, I disagree with the concept of adding another year to grade school and might as well include high school? It really would make me sick even if he said “GRADUALLY”.

Well, everything still a plan, and a bit abstract to me still. I am not politically inclined person, nor has the political mind, but what interests me most is “CHANGE“, would this really happen?

Cebu Bloggers Society met Yehey.com – Ms. Elaine Uy, Ms. Kankan Ramos and Mr. Donald Lim at La Maison, Ayala Terracess, Cebu City yesterday May 28, 2009. The said meet up started with some acquaintances, camwhorings and thoughts sharing with both Elaine and Kan-kan.

Followed by a short introduction by the owner of the La Maison- Ms. Marissa who gave us a short overview about the restaurant and it’s services. After which, the most awaited part? (well I believe so) – “eating time”.
