The Search for the Toughest Jobs in the Philippines

Who has the tougher job—a manager or a messenger? A Makati girl or a palengke boy? A jeepney driver or an accounts driver? – That is the question.

May 26, 2010 – Wednesday, Intramuros, Manila - the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) teamed up with Manny Pacquiao and Alaxan FR pain killer, launched a contest to find out which Filipino has the toughest job. The contest is dubbed as: “The Search for the Toughest Jobs in the Philippines“.

The Search for the Toughest Jobs in the Philippines is open to all working Filipinos both local and overseas (OFW) whom they think their job is really tough. To join, participant must register at the main website www.toughjobsphilippines.com , upload a picture and explain why he or his nominee has the toughest job.

Nomination is open from May 26, 2010 up to August 21, 2010. DOLE will screen each nominees to come up with the short list, from which the winner would be voted upon online. The entry who gets the most number of votes online will win the competition and will bring home a trophy and a cash prize.

Why Alaxan FR?

Blogging: a tough job
I consider blogging a tough job because from day to day a blogger needs to write things in the most accurate and passionate way. One must have a heart to put his thoughts into words for the benefit of his readers and everyone. One can’t be a blogger if he is just writing nonesense thoughts and most of all if he got no readers following his blog. Some people might see blogging as a typical way of writing random personal things, but it’s more than that actually. As you may noticed, we also play great role in our society today. Blogging beyond what you think blogging is.

My pick basing on the current entry:

Marissa Lanterno – a single mom with 2 kids. As I read the short description of her profile, I could tell it really is tough. Why? Because, she is a lady driver. It is too rare to see a lady driving for a living. Not the usual driver you see on the road, where a lady is driving her own vehicle as a personal service to work. I salute to this mom!

Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million homes and businesses turned their lights off for one hour to make their stand against climate change. Only a year later and Earth Hour had become a global sustainability movement with more than 50 million people across 35 countries participating. Global landmarks such as the, Sydney Harbour Bridge, The CN Tower in Toronto, The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and Rome’s Colosseum, all stood in darkness, as symbols of hope for a cause that grows more urgent by the hour.

Earth Hour 2010 takes place on Saturday 27 March at 8.30pm (local time) and is a global call to action to every individual, every business and every community throughout the world. It is a call to stand up, to take responsibility, to get involved and lead the way towards a sustainable future. Iconic buildings and landmarks from Europe to Asia to the Americas will stand in darkness. CBS @ 2: The Cebu Bloggers Society 2nd Anniversary Celebration

In two years, blogging in Cebu has ripened from just being a mere online diary to something that takes an active role in civic and social awareness.

One of the factors that contributed to this positive development in the blogging scene in Cebu is the creation of a local blogging community.

The Cebu Bloggers Society was founded on February 14, 2008, with the main goal of uniting Cebu-based bloggers into a well-bonded community. And indeed, after its creation, individuals with diverse backgrounds but with a common interest, which is to promote Cebu and advocate blogging as a key tool for progress, converged together to establish Cebu’s first and largest blogging community.

The Cebu Bloggers Society has really grown and evolved quite significantly. From its humble beginnings, the group presently has at least 80 members and the number is still bound to increase further.

And now, the group is already anticipating its 2nd founding anniversary! Dubbed as “CBS @ 2: The Cebu Bloggers Society 2nd Anniversary Celebration”, the event is envisioned to further strengthen the bond of friendship and camaraderie within the blogging community.

The anniversary celebration will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2010, 5-9PM, at the Celebration Hall of SM Storyland, Lower Ground Floor, SM City Cebu.

What is RAN Online?

Classes:

Shaman â€“ These students use wands to channel the spiritual energy known as Qi to heal and buff their allies. Shamans may also specialize to use Spears.

Brawler - Melee fighters who have shunned all weapons in favor of unarmed combat.

Archer - Mastering the bow requires high agility and dexterity. Students may chose to use either the short bow or long bow.

Swordsman - Formidable warriors who must be both strong and agile. Swordsman can specialize in â€˜bladesâ€™ or â€˜broadswords.â€™

My choice for MTV Emerge

One of the great industry, where fellow Filipinos can show off their talent, is the â€œMusicâ€ industry. Needless to say, a lot of local bands, single artist across the country do exist. And some even excel internationally. But what about those â€œnot so famousâ€ talented people who wanted to show off their talent to everyone? How would they be recognized? With MTV, Jeepney Music, and Department of Tourism collaboration MTV Emerge is made possible!

MTV Emerge is a platform for unsigned music talent in the Philippines to showcase their work and to be given an opportunity to win a one-year recording contract with Jeepney Music. Why Gago Ako (Filipino Jerk) by Greedy? I support local artist! Greedy, is a talented rapper from Dumaguete City, Oriental Negros, Philippines. Catering filipino flow hiphop music. Despite being in the slum and hard struggles in the streets, this Filipino rapper performs with a positive outlook in life. He believes that despite being in a 3rd world country, he can make it out and achieve whatever he wants with the right grinding.Further, the song conveys meaning. It does make sense!

The Team 04 - RELOADED

The team RELOADED decided to be the first among the rest to have team building. And yet we did. Last August 20 and August 21 we went at Circa La Playa, Minglanilla, Cebu. We stayed their overnight and had loads of fun, foods, drinks, pools, jokes, games, among others! It was indeed a great time for everyone in the team to gather together once in a while.

Aboitizland – First Bite: a Bloggers Urban Lifestyle Event

Last August 14, 2009 Friday, the Cebu Bloggers core members went at Aboitizland specifically at Pristina North located at Talamban, Cebu City. The event was dubbed as “First Bite: a Bloggers Urban Lifestyle Event”.

The Cebu Bloggers Society core members met at The Terraces, Ayala Center, Cebu around 5pm to 6pm. We were fetched by 2 Aboitizland vehicles going to the venue. We reached there around 6.30PM. Then we were all being introduced with the ongoing and planned projects of Aboitizland. Afterwhich, some did camwhorings (as usual), while others were busy having some chitchats – just like what I did. Around 7PM, we all were adviced to have dinner. (Yum..Yum..) Few moments later, the SkyCraperCity people arrived. After dinner, beers were served, then the short program began! Freedom Wall, Games and Pictorials followed!

It was indeed an honor to be invited by an organization as Aboitiz Land. So in behalf of everyone, I extend my heartful gratitude for inviting us! – Thank you!

UP Cook Out 2009 Move Up! – my first year

For the first time , I attended the UP Cookout last Firday (August 7, 2009). This year’s theme: MOVE UP! and the highlights were: Kantahan , Sayawan , Bandahan , and Rampahan. My Last year attempt of attending UP Cook Out was a failure due to conflict of duty schedule. Anyhow, I just wanted to write about my first year experience of the UP cook out.

I left home around 7:00 in the evening and met Mikyu at country mall. We went to UP Cebu together. There, our co bloggers were waiting already. The event already started when we arrived at the venue. At the UP entrance were bunch of people who fell in line for the admission. Then we met Tiannex , Jessa and Bryan. I also met my former classmates there, Jenny, Jean and Cathy-who also stayed till mornin g(except Jean), despite the fact that they still have classes by 9am (Saturday).

Among the Cebu Bloggers pipz who went at the event were: Fibryl, Atty. Ethelbert, Mark G, Jesryl, and Rabsin. But they didnâ€™t stay overnight. There were only 5 of us who survived. Bryan, Mikyu, Tiannex, Jessa, and your’s truly.

Evaluation:
This year’s cook as I would say is so much fun! It feels like student again. Though I missed some parts of the event, because I took some naps, (just like what everyone did), but still I enjoyed it a lot. Was having great time to my co-bloggers/friends! Until then.

2nd Cebu:Digital Filipino Club & Bloggers Networking Event a Success!

The 2nd Cebu: Digital Filipino Club & Bloggers Networking Event at Teatro Casino PAGCOR last Saturday-July 11, 2009 was indeed a success! Compared to last year’s (1st year of the event here in Cebu) the number of participants, especially the Cebu Bloggers increased. I still remember during its first year on how Winston of BatangYagit.com exert effort to organize the Cebu Bloggers as one. And yet, until now, we all are always thankful for his legacy!

Moving on, just like last year, before the program started, everyone was adviced to eat their dinner which was sponsored by PAGCOR. Around 8PM (if am not wrong), the program started with a welcome ceremony by one of the PAGCOR personnel (mybad I forgot her designation), then followed by Miss Janette’s presentation and then a short break. This time, the Cebu Bloggers did some camwhorings while others were just sitting and did some chit chats. Afterwhich, there were some raffles and I was lucky coz this time I got the PAGCOR green back with some freebies inside! ^_^.

Lastly, I would like to thank Miss Janette for inviting us again in the event. To the Cebu Bloggers Society family, for being so cooperative. To the sponsor Casino Filipino PAGCOR Cebu and to everyone who came at the event, thanks a lot! Hope to see you again next year!
